This research aims to analyze the conflict between fundamental rights toprivacy, honor and right of publicity, versus the right of others to provide and receiveinformation, known by doctrine as the right to freedom of information. In this research,our goal is to protect the privacy of professional athletes in Ecuador, especially againstarbitrary interference experienced by athletes, particularly by the mass media, whojustified their torts in their freedom to inform, sometimes committing slander, deposits,and broadcasts / or reproductions of the athlete's image without their consent, orviolations in the intimate sphere of the affected, generating in this way, a loss that theyaren‘t supposed to bear.In the present investigation, it has been established the scope and limits of eachof the rights mentioned here, and in this way, to establish a proper system where theycan all harmoniously exercised without prejudice professional athletes, or the media,who must do their work to satisfy the interest of the community to get news about thesecelebrities.
