In this paper has developed a study of the risk of major accidents in the service station “Vista Hermosa”, which sells fuel. The purpose of this is to determine the fire risk that is present in this type of facility.For the development of this study was taken as reference qualitative risk assessment methodologies. One method used is the Dow index, this methodology is applied for the assessment of fire risk in refining plants, petrochemical, etc. This methodology was developed precisely for a chemical company, which as its name suggests is called Dow Chemical, this evaluates the risk factors of fire, storage of materials, facilities, and by weighting the risk is calculated at the facility or unit process it is exposed.With this type of study can determine the possible affected areas in the company or in the adjacent, so to determine control measures in the different phases and making health and safety management which improves working conditions in activities daily. As protective measures we can take items of assets, such as fire extinguishers, sprinklers, etc., and passives as partitioning of facilities, fire resistant materials, etc.
