Etiología de neumonía adquirida en la comunidad en el grupo pediátrico del Hospital de los Valles, su trtamiento antimicrobiano, índices de resistencia y presencia de bacteriemia en un periodo de 6 meses del año 2013

Community Acquired Pneumonia is a common disease in the pediatric area, therefore pediatricians should have the expertise to determine the correct diagnosis. They also have to be sure that the antibiotic therapy chosen is adequate to avoid resistance, bacteremia and future complications that may increase the rates of infant mortality from this infection.This study was done at Hospital de los Valles in Cumbayá, 66 patients were analyzed they had the diagnoses of Community Acquired Pneumonia in the period of 6 months of 2013; we excluded 5 of them because they did not meet the inclusion criteria. Nominal variables such as age, etiology, empiric antimicrobial therapy, blood cultures performed recorded resistance, complications, bacteremia, antibiotic therapy prior to hospitalization, antibiotic therapy at discharge and hospital days were analyzed.We used binary regression analysis of the relationship between these variables. The study found that age is considered a risk factor in the development of bacterial pneumonia because it has 2.7 times more likely to produce the bacterial infection. Gender and sepsis in relation to the etiology had negative associations, without statistical significance.
