This thesis approaches the development of a smart antenna system which uses the information from a GPS receiver, in order to be implemented in a mobile user, such as an unmanned aerial vehicle. The development of the smart antenna system covers the system design and characterization of candidate components. The system’s design seeks to develop an architecture that can be used in a mobile user, for which the GPS receiver is used to estimate the location of the base station. The characterization of components and systems determines the actual capacity of the system and their ability to be implemented.
