This project, called “Design and development of a Web application for the automation ofscholarship data processing”, is about the design and development of an application usingWeb technologies. This application has a database to store, in a central server, all the datarelated to applicants and scholarship grantees. It also handles the process of selection ofgrantees for the academic programs offered by the Fulbright Commission. The applicationcan be accessed from any computer connected to the LAN (local area network) of theFulbright Commission offices, through any standard web browser. This thesis describes thetechnologies used for the project (most of them free and open source); the use ofmethodologies and standardized design patterns; the development of the system; and theinstallation and deployment of the application. Finally, a technical manual and a usermanual are included with the structural and functional descriptions of the application.
