摘要

This study began as a personal initiative, and, in response to social pressure generated by their interest about the status of water quality, after the Municipal Government of San Cristobal Island started the activities of the water treatment plants for the community. For this study the water samples was performed in 38 different locations of the town including the two treatment plants, water reservoirs tanks, houses, and two water bottling companies, measuring microbiological parameters of coliforms, E. coli, heterotrophic, yeasts and molds, as indicators to determine the status of quality water on the island. The analysis system of water used for this thesis is 3MTM PETRIFILMTM Aqua.As a result of this study I can determine that treatment plants are working well and in most cases the community is receiving high-quality drinking water, however a percentage of the population still does not meet the quality standards by several factors outside the new system recently implemented.
