In recent years, squirrel-cage induction machines are widely used as wind generators because of their robustness and cost effectiveness, and capability of asynchronus operation with power grid. However, the induction machines have the diasadvantageous point that the transient current amounts to several times as large as the rated value when they are connected to systems, and causes the voltage variation of the system. In this paper, the authors denote the machine dynamics using the d-q axis notation and then investigate the electrical transient phenomena through computer simulations. Furthermore, we propose a method of damping the transient rush current of squirrel-cage induction machines.
