By the application of a mixture of charcoal with pyroligneous acid (charcoal 4: pyroligneous acid 1;Sannekka E, Miyazaki Midori PHARMS....IMC), the stalk number and length surpassed those of the control plotsin both spring and ratoon crops, and the total dry matter weight and cane yields at the final farvest weresignificantly higher in the ratoon crops. The sugar content and yield of the Sannekka E (SE) treated crops weremuch higher than those of the control crops in both cropping types. CGR and LAI showed significant changesthroughout the growth stages by SE application. The highest stalk and sugar yields were obtained by theapplication of SE of 400 kg/10a in both cropping types. Therefore, it is suggested that SE application affectssignificantly cane and sugar yields.
