One gram of encysted embryo of Thamnocephalus platyurus (an anostracan crustacea) contains around 17 μmoles of diguanosine tetraphosphate (Gp4G) and 390 mg of protein, and traces of diguanosine triphosphate (Gp3G). The identity of Gp4G was established by its ultraviolet spectrum, insensitivity to alkaline phosphatase, analysis of its phosphodiesterase degradation products (GTP and GMP) by HPLC and, finally, by its 1H NMR characteristics. © 1994.
