The Introduction of the Antiochene Olympics: A Proposal for a New Date

This paper dates the introduction of the Olympic games of Antioch to AD 212. The traditional date of AD 180 is based on the account of sixth-century chronicler John Malalas, which is reexamined closely and confronted with epigraphic evidence.
