In Florida, some horseshoe crabsudare fished for eel bait, but they are fished principallyudby the marine-life industry, which collects the animalsudlive for resale as aquarium, research, or educationaludspecimens. The regulations for the horseshoe crabudfisheries are developed by each state in compliance withudthe Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commissionud(ASMFC) Horseshoe Crab Management Plan. This reportudwas written to provide information on the biology,udstock status, and management of horseshoe crabs andudthe implications relevant to the request for an increasedudbag limit by harvesters in the marine-life industry.
