McKenzie Airport Terminal is located atEasterwood Airport, which is owned andoperated by Texas A&M University. It was builtin 1988. Most all HVAC equipment, whichincludes boiler, chiller, pumps, AHUs andexhaust fans, due to lack of maintenance, hadsome form of deteriorated controls, components,and operational function. For example, most ofpneumatic controls were failed due to badcomponents, wrong settings, and disconnectionbefore the Continuous CommissioningR (CCSM).This caused humid and hot problems of thebuilding, and wasted energy. After maintainingand improving the pneumatic controls, the boilerand hot water pump is now turned off whenoutside air temperature is higher than 80?F. Thechiller is now shut off when the outside airtemperature is below 55 ?F, and the economizersactivate to maintain discharge air temperaturewhen the outside air temperature is below 60 ?F.The building comfort in temperature and relativehumidity (RH) is improved after CCSM. Forexample, average space temperature of thebuilding was above 75 ?F most of the timebefore CCSM and is now 73 ?F after CCSM. Therelative humidity in the baggage claim area was70% before CCSM and is now 55% after CCSM.The annual savings of electricity for chiller andnatural gas for boiler are $5,040 and $12,090respectively. The total annual energy savings are$17,130.
