Using Mentor, an Expert System, to Perform Preventative Maintenance and Diagnostics on Centrifugal Chillers

Mentor is an expert system which was developed andintroduced in 1986 assists service refrigeration techs to performthe correct preventative maintenance (PM) and diagnostics oncentrifugal chillers at the right time. This expert system hasundergone several upgrades and enhancements since then.This paper will discuss the human interface needs for thisapplication, the functional characteristics of the expert system,the development environment and a case history of maintenanceon a chiller.
