摘要

Today, the lighting industry is experiencing reneweddevelopment and implementation of advancedtechnologies. One of the most striking advances is theimplementation of system solutions in lightingcontrol. This approach promises to contribute toefficient building operations in several innovativeways. One trend, best illustrated by the emerging useof daylighting techniques, integrates lighting controlsystems with the building itself, complementingdesign decisions about skylighting, fenestration andoffice placement with control tools to harvest naturallight. Other technologies under development seek toachieve the seamless integration of lighting controlswith other building systems. Here, the rewards can berich, with increased energy savings through linkinghigh energy use systems like lighting and HVACwith unified controls. Finally, the industry isidentifying an often overlooked beneficiary-theoffice worker using the lights-and seeking tointegrate control capabilities with the worker's needs.This stems from the recognition that environmentalinfluences can boost productivity, benefiting both theenterprise and the bottom line. As a consequence,controls manufacturers are exploring ways in whichto turn some measure of environmental control overto the occupant.
