Recent advances in network coding have shownudgreat potential for efficient information multicasting in communicationudnetworks, in terms of both network throughput andudnetwork management. In this paper, we address the problem ofudrate control at end-systems for network coding based multicastudflows. We develop two adaptive rate control algorithms forudthe networks with given coding subgraphs and without givenudcoding subgraphs, respectively. With random network coding, udboth algorithms can be implemented in a distributed manner, andudwork at transport layer to adjust source rates and at networkudlayer to carry out network coding. We prove that the proposedudalgorithms converge to the globally optimal solutions for intrasessionudnetwork coding. Some related issues are discussed, andudnumerical examples are provided to complement our theoreticaludanalysis.
