The Federal District presents environmental and social problems that arecharacteristic of consolidated metropolises. The rise tax of urbanization hasbeen pointed as the causer of the main problems, also of those related tothe climate. This article presents the results of a preliminary inquiry of thevariability of the climatic parameters - temperature and precipitation - inthe Federal District, in the period of 38 years, with the main purpose to explainquestions related to a possible alteration in the climate of the region.It is part of the Thesis "Considerations about variability and climate changein the Federal District, repercussions in the water resources and the informationto the public", defended in the Ecoloy Post-Graduation Program ofthe University of Brasilia - UnB.
