Karl Marx, Inaugural Address of the International Working Men's AssociationWritten between 21 and 27 October 1864, the text was approved by the GC in its session of 1 November. It was published 3 days later in the London weekly The Bee-Hive, and was then re-issued in the same month, along with the statutes of the organization, in a booklet entitled Address and Provisional Rules of the Working Men's International Association. Karl Marx, KarlMarx 1818–83 was the brain of the IWMA. He wrote all its major resolutions, was a member of the GC from its founding until 1872, and participated in the two London Conferences (1865 and 1871) and in the Hague Congress (1872).
