Brittle Mixed-Mode (I+II) Fracture: Application of the Equivalent Notch Stress Intensity Factor to the Cracks Emanating From Notches

In the present paper, crack initiation inudmixed-mode (I+II) fracture has been studied usingudnotched circular ring specimens. A new criterionudof brittle mixed-mode (I+II) fractureudbased on the notch tangential stress and the volumetricudapproach has been developed. The criticaludvalue of the equivalent notch stressintensityudfactor has been considered as fractureudtoughness in mixed-mode (I+II) fracture.
