Community of Predatory Arthropods Canopy-Inhabiting on Paddy Ecosystems and Margin Fields in South Sumatra

The objectives of this surveys were to analyze the species diversity and and to analyze the community similarities among paddy ecosystems and margin fields in lowland areas of South Sumatra. The surveys were done on paddy and margin fields (bushes, weeds, broadleaf weeds). Canopy-inhabiting arthropods were sampled using nets. Indices of community similarities and species diversity were applied to analyze the data. Predatory arthropods was found 59 species. The species diversity was the highest in broadleaf weed in margin field. The lowest one was found in bushes. Abundance of the predatory arthropods found in Pemulutan, Gandus, Karang Anyar and Rantau Panjang were considerably higher (75%) compared to other functional arthropods (parasitoids, phytophagous, and other insects). On ecosystem of paddy, predatory arthropods in Karang Anyar, Pemulutan were dominated by web spider, Tetragnatha javana. In the bushes, weeds, broadleaf weeds, of predatory arthropods were dominated by Oxyopes javanus. In rice crops, bushes, grass and broadleaf weeds in Gandus, predatory arthropods were dominated by O. javanus. On rice crops, weeds, and broadleaf weeds in Rantau Panjang, the arthropods were dominated by O. javanus. There was a tendency that the predatory arthropod community on the margin fields was more similar to predatory arthropod community in rice crops.
