摘要

Ground-based Fourier Transform Infra-Red (FTIR) measurements are an importantcomponent of the global atmospheric monitoring system. Their essential rolein validating satellite measurements requires a precise documentation oftheir quality. Here we present an extensive quality documentation ofground-based FTIR O profiles. This is done in the form oftheoretical and empirical error estimations. The latter is achieved by anintercomparison with ECC-sonde O profiles. The FTIR Oamounts are obtained by applying the most advanced instrumentation andretrieval strategies and consequently represent the current potential of thisremote sensing technique.
