This paper provides a summary of a literature review of papers that deal with the impact of insulation retrofit strategies on the hygrothermal performance of brick masonry walls. It also describes a two-year monitoring program and the hygrothermal performance of a retrofitted masonry wall on a 4-storey masonry building. The wall retrofit included the addition of insulation and vapour and air barriers on the inside face of the brick wall.
