Turning the attention of librarians and technologists away from digitization and implementation of digital projects, this program will examine development trends after a digital project has been launched. Arguing that a digital project is never u22completeu22, the presenters explore and demonstrate recent library initiatives to develop services that improve a digital collectionu27s visibility and value. Whether harnessing the power of the social web, taking on in-house web development, improving metadata, or tying digital collections to the classroom, the end-goal is to make digital collections used and useful. To reach this goal, the presenters will demonstrate simple web services libraries can take advantage of and implement with their digital collections, share their own experiences with in-house development of a digital collection service and metadata projects, and open a dialogue about u22next-stepsu22 for digital projects.
