En la Teoría de la Selección Natural, el concepto de función biológica debe suponerse para delimitar eludconcepto de aptitud; y éste debe suponerse para delimitar el concepto de adaptación y también para explicarudel fenómeno al que este último alude. Esos tres conceptos, por otra parte, son especificaciones de tresudconceptos de aplicación más universal. El concepto de función biológica es un caso particular del conceptoudgeneral de función; y el concepto de aptitud especifica el concepto de eficiencia. El concepto de adaptación,udmientras tanto, es una especificación del concepto de diseño. La visualización de esas articulaciones conceptualesudpermite entender la legitimidad de la naturalización de la teleología operada por el darwinismo.ududIn Natural Selection Theory, the concept of biological function must be supposed to elucidate the conceptudof fitness; and this one must be supposed to elucidate the concept of adaptation and also to explainudthe phenomenon to which the last one alludes.
