摘要

Three via-free microstrip composite right/left handed(CRLH) unit cells are presented, which enable easy and low-costfabrication of transmission lines exhibiting the infinite wavelength phenomenon. All guiding structures are designed in anentirely printed circuit technology based on the transmission linetheory and its equivalent circuit. Supported by EM simulationsoftware the unit cells are optimized to operate at a frequency of10 GHz. Appropriate experiment boards were fabricated and themeasurements obtained from a microwave vector networkanalyzer are compared to the simulated results. Furthermore, anapproach is worked out to determine the dispersioncharacteristics of the unit cells without the need of an equivalentcircuit. The introduced and applied method allows to calculatedispersion relations directly based on simulated and measuredABCD parameters. Left and right-handed regions are pointedout by the dispersion diagram and the so-called infinitewavelength phenomenon is exhibited.
