The approach of the british company Plane Station tried strategically to combine two major trends in Europe during the last decade : demilitarization, as consequence of the fall of the Iron Curtain on one hand, and growing liberalisation on air transport following the European economical integration on the other hand. By joining both, the company, formerly involved in property developement, was convinced to seize the best opportunity for its development. The managerial objective was to hire at the best price former military air places all over Europe to connext them into a integrated network of regional airports. This highly speculative strategy failed and condemned the group to bankruptcy in summer 2005. A retrospectical analysis offers now a unique chance to understand the central place taken by military brownfields in a restructuring market on regional air transport.
