The theoretical part of the diploma thesis Day-time sleeping and nap time of nursery school children looks into how much sleep preschool children need, it specifies the phases of a child's sleep and presents and outlines the elements of daily nursery school routine. The empirical part of the thesis presents a survey which has been carried out among nursery teachers and their assistants in nursery schools in Bela krajina and Novo mesto. It tries to establish to what extent the individual need of children are observed and what kind of activities are being offered to children who fail to sleep. The purpose of the survey was to learn to what extent this daily routine is followed as well as to what extent a child's need and wishes are observed in planning and carrying out this part of the daily routine.udResults have shown a difference in execution and opinion of practitioners included in the survey. Although progress is seen in this part of the daily routine in comparison to existing data, I believe the needs and wishes of children still aren't sufficiently taken into account.ud
