The Program of Military Education and Training determines the Selection procedure for candidates to ensure an adequate selection of personnel being able to successfully complete the training at the School for Non-Commissioned Officers (NCO’s). udThe objective of the diploma thesis is to determine factors with impact on the success of the selection procedure for the admission to the School for NCO’s. Primarily, I wanted to establish the extent to which the success depends on personal factors like gender, age, qualification, physical readiness and the time of employment in the Slovenian Army. As well, I was interested whether the candidates were satisfied with the results achieved in the selection process and if their expectations were met. In the diploma thesis, the evaluation personnel were also taken in account, because their professionalism, attitude to the teamwork and focus towards a common goal, with emphasis on evaluation, ensures the objectivity of the selection process results.udAfter graduation of the 24th generation of candidates at the School for NCO’s in Postojna, the graduates (of which 36 or 94,70% were male and 2 or 5,30% were female) and the evaluators (of which 11 or 84,62% were male and 2 or 15,38% were female) were submitted with two separate sets of questionnaires to determine their opinion and the difference between their expectation and the obtained results. udThe results show that more than two thirds of the graduates were satisfied with the outcome of the selection process. Males were more successful than females and they were ranked higher for school admission. According to the candidates’ opinion, the educational background, their age, as well as the time spent in preparation for the test, didn’t have significant influence on the final results. In the performance of individual candidates only minor differences were identified. This is to attribute to the application conditions and selection criteria, determined by the Program of Military Education and Training. Last but not least, the merit goes, to the evaluation personnel, giving special attention to adequate organisation, teamwork and good communication within the team.udud
