The Caribbean Basin Economic Recovery Act of August 5, 1983, created a need forU.S. market information for nontraditional agricultural imports, because 27 Caribbean and Central American countries were offered duty-free access to U.S. markets for a minimum of 12 years. The report provides a multiyear annual and monthly market overview and database from 1975 to 1987 for U.S. production, trade, consumption, and proces of 15 fresh fruits and vegetables and 2 frozen vegetables. It also contains estimates of annual and seasonal wholesale prices in New York and Chicago for the selected commodities.
