New, technology-based companies are playing an increasingly important role in generating economic growth. Many new, technology-based companies are among the fastest growing and most successful companies in the world. New, technology-based companies contribute significantly to the creation of new employment, which is a top priority in many countries. Technology-based companies can often be more innovative than can large and longer established companies. Consequently, they have an important role in the development and the commercialization of new ideas and technologies.
