Shear Effect Factor for Mindlin Plate Bucking

摘要

Recent buckling studies by the first author and his associates on circular and rectangular plate indicate a link between the thin plate and thick plate buckling solutions. Such a link is well-known in the elastic buckling loads of Euler’s flexural columns and Engesser’s shear-flexural columns. This paper this link and proposes a shear effect factor to convert thin plate solutions to their thick plate counterparts.
