Infectious Waste Management: Generation Inventory, Treatment Capacity and RelatedIssues: A Report to the Iowa General Assembly

The Iowa Department of Natural Resources was instructed, by the 1989 Iowa GeneralAssembly, to conduct an inventory of infectious waste generators in the state and the amounts of infectious waste they generate. The inventory was to be completed and a report prepared by January 15, 1991. The report, as prepared, provides a brief discussion of recent regulatory activity at both the state and federal levels, the inventory of generators and the amount they generate, a discussion of available treatment capacity and 'quality' treatment capacity, and also a brief discussion of related issues which are impacting infectious waste management in Iowa.
