摘要

Thermal plasma arc technology would be alternative for a wide range of high temperature applications. The use of electrical power is providing to be a cost-effective option for the treatment of industrial wastes, recycling of scrap, upgrading of existing metallurgical processes and a new methods for the production of materials. This work assists in defining the extent and nature of areas of development, technology and design techniques necessary to adequately address commercial, industrially rugged, plasma arc heater system. Thermal plasma arc reactors are classified according to (1) the mode of arc attachment, as non-transferred and transferred; (2) the site for energy and/or mass transfer, as dispersed or condensed phase (bulk, film and packed bed). New techniques and processes for treating and destroying organic toxic wastes are discussed. In particular, the discussion includes process description, suitable waste stream and status of development for some main processes for gaseous, liquid and solid wastes.
