A definitional mission (DM) financed by the U.S. Trade Development Program (USTDP) visited Delhi, India between April 13 to 17, 1992. The objective of the DM was to evaluate a request for financing of a feasibility study regarding the automation of the Okhla Sewage Treatment Plant (STP). The value of US exports for the one installation would be about fifteen times the cost of the Feasibility Study. However, the real project benefit is in giving US manufacturers the opportunity to work with government organizations in India. A successful relationship would most probably result in licensing agreements between India and US manufacturers which would benefit US industry. It is recommended that USTDP finance the Feasibility Study to provide instrumentation and control systems at the Okhla STP.
