摘要

In open channel flows an important design parameter is the amount of entrained air. The presence of air within the flow increases the bulk of the flow, reduces the friction factor but also increases the air-water transfer of atmospheric gases. Further aeration of high-velocity flows may prevent or reduce cavitation damage. A general method to compute the flow characteristics of self-aerated flows is described. Then recent developments in aeration devices are presented, and a new approach to estimate the performances of the aerators and their optimum location is discussed.
