摘要

The MAX Program, Farming for Maximum Efficiency, is designed to help farmerstrack and compare economic returns in the production of corn and soybean crops. Comparing various tillage management systems can help determine which practices are both economically efficient (profitable) and environmentally sound. Illinois participants for 1992 included 33 producers with a total of 61 fields of various sizes. No-till and reduced tillage systems were predominant. Farmers can compare economic returns for different tillage systems used on each field, check to see if field erosion rates are below 'T', and track their use of fertilizers, pesticides, equipment operations, and other inputs against those of other participants.
