Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Privatization Study: Experience of Japan and Lessons for Developing Countries.

The study is one of the most comprehensive analyses prepared on the privatization of the telecommunications sector in Japan. Today, we have the benefit of seven years of experience since the initial privatization of Nippon Telegraph and Telephone (NTT) and have the opportunity to see the successes and the failures of the privatization program. It is hoped that the study will provide a source of valuable information concerning the privatization of the telecommunications sector in Japan and that the information will be useful to both developed and developing countries in the privatization of their state-owned telecommunications enterprises, and in the privatization of other infrastructure enterprises.
