The First CIRP International Workshop on 'Concurrent Engineering for Product Realization,' was held 27-28 June 1992, in Tokyo, Japan and is summarized in the article. The results of the workshop, some background information about CIRP (International Institution for Production Engineering Research), and of the organization that provided the technical sponsorship of the workshop are also included.
