摘要

The facilitation program described in the manual is intended for use in brief individual outpatient treatment for persons who satisfy the criteria for a diagnosis of alcohol dependence and abuse. It is intended to be flexible enough to allow for individual treatment planning and for use as a primary treatment for persons who have never been exposed to the 12 Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous (AA), as well as for individuals who have had such exposure, for example, through prior treatment. The program described is intended to be consistent with active involvement in AA. The overall goal of the program is to facilitate patients' active participation in the fellowship of AA. It regards such active involvement as the primary factor responsible for sustained sobriety ('recovery') and therefore as the desired outcome of participation in the program.
