Isoseismal Maps, Macroseismic Epicenters, and Estimated Magnitudes of HistoricalEarthquakes in the Hawaiian Islands

摘要

In the report the authors document the occurrence of historical earthquakes,estimate magnitude, probable location, and relative focal depth for early Hawaiian earthquakes where data are sufficient, and calculate the probability for major to large earthquakes in the next 10 to 50 years. To estimate magnitudes and locations the authors compared macroseismic maps of early events with those of recent earthquakes for which instrumental source parameters are available.
