Friction Mass Damper for Vibration Control

摘要

The report presents a theoretical study on a new hysteretic mass damper systemfor vibration reduction of lightly damped structures. The work has been done at the Earthquake Engineering Center of the University of California at Berkeley and is based on research work started by the first author on the use of frictional devices acting transversely to the direction of the motion as a means of energy dissipation. The work described in the report is the initial stage of an ongoing research program on innovative techniques for vibration control.
