Reorientation of the Research Capability of the Former Soviet Union: A Report to the Assistant to the President for Science and Technology

On March 3 approximately 120 leaders of the U.S. science and engineering community were brought together to consider how to preserve the basic science capability of the former Soviet Union (FSU). At that meeting, working groups were constituted in four areas: weapon scientists and engineers, basic research, commercialization of technology, and interdisciplinary problem-oriented research (e.g., health, ecology, energy, polar, etc.). Attached are the reports of these four working groups along with the list of attendees.
