The thesis for the degree of Teknisk Licentiat is of analog circuit designnature, and deals mainly with the implementations and design issues of two sensor types. The first type is a random access photodiode matrix sensor with an on-chip A/D (analog-to-digital) converter. The second is a linear sensor array for sensitive and selective detection of modulated light. In connection with the first sensor, a technique to produce a well defined and variable voltage ramp is treated. It can be used in for example a ramp A/D conversion for sensors such as those described above. The thesis also contains a brief background and introduction to the work that it is based on, and 3 papers that have been produced upon that work. The titles of the papers included in the thesis are: An Addressable 256x256 Photodiode Image Sensor Array with an 8-bit Digital Output; Self-Calibrating Linear, Polynomial and Exponential Switched Capacitor Ramp Generators; A Sensor array for phase and amplitude detection of synchronous modulated light sources. Additionally an appendix to the third paper is supplied. It considers circuit details and future features to be considered.
