The American National Standard for Telecommunications (ANS) T1.601-1988 specifiesthe minimal set of requirements to provide for satisfactory transmission between the network and the Network Termination (NT). It describes both the physical interface and the electrical characteristics of the signals appearing at the network side of the NT, commonly called the U interface point, or U reference point. Equipment designed to operate on the North American Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN) Basic Access U Interface must conform with the set of minimal requirements. The document describes a set of conformance test specifications for all NTs connected to the Basic Rate ISDN user-network interface. These tests were developed and approved by members of the North American ISDN Users' Forum.
