Lithology of Evaporite Cycles and Cycle Boundaries in the Upper Part of theParadox Formation of the Hermosa Group of Pennsylvanian Age in the Paradox Basin, Utah and Colorado

摘要

The present study was done using cores from two core holes drilled during potashexploration in two areas southwest of Moab, Utah. These cores were taken from the upper part of the Paradox Formation in cycles 2-11 and part of cycle 13. In the paper the authors describe some of the important features of these evaporite cycles that serve as the basis for interpretations of the mode of deposition of these rocks.
