Performance of Reinforced Approach Fills at the Ozone Bridge. A Follow-Up Study

The Ozone Bridge, located approximately 25 miles (40 km) west of Cheyenne,Wyoming on Interstate 80, was reconstructed in 1987. The two bridge decks and the four approach slabs were removed and replaced. In addition, the upper portions of the approach embankments were rebuilt using four different geotextile reinforcement techniques to reduce long term maintenance costs. The embankments were instrumented to compare lateral and vertical stress and deformations caused by the differrent procedures. This report describes the changes that have occurred in the four years of service since reconstruction.
