Determination of Acceleration Field Parameters with Linear Accelerometers

摘要

The linear and angular motions of a rigid body induce an acceleration field that is described in a coordinate system fixed to the body. The response of a linear accelerometer to this field depends on the magnitude and direction of the motional parameters, and on this configuration, i.e. its location and the direction of the sensitive axis. Combination of the signals from an arrangement of accelerometers allows to reconstitute linear and angular acceleration, and the angular rate vectors of the body. Formulas for the analysis of arbitrary arrangements of three, six and nine accelerometers are given. Substitution of the Newton and the Euler equations in the formula for the force field expresses the acceleration as a function of force and torque and the ten inertial parameters of the body. Possible applications are indicated.
