Pilot Study of Automated Testing Using the Administrative Careers with America Examination

This report describes a study comparing two forms of the Administrative Careers With America (ACWA) examination - a computer version and a paper-and-pencil version. Federal job incumbents from the Retirement and Insurance Group (RIG) of OPM in Washington, DC (n=123) and from Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma (n=174) participated as subjects in the study. Two statistically equivalent forms of the ACWA written ability test and a computer version of the Individual Achievement Record were used in the study. All subjects were administered a paper-and-pencil version and a computer version of the test.
