摘要

Home range size, food habits, habitat use, cub production, and survival of 10radio-collared female black bears (Ursus americanus) were determined from 512 radio locations and visual observations, analysis of 132 scats, 100 hours of close observation of a habituated female and her 3 cubs, and den site visits. Survival rates of 31 captured bears were determined from ear-tag returns. Data were obtained between 11 June 1990 and 25 October 1991 in the central Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Home range size averaged 28.32 sq. km. and there was extensive overlap of home ranges. These home range sizes are in the middle range for North American black bears. Over 60 food items were identified.
