Data Summary of Japan Meteorological Agency Surveys along 137 deg E (1967-1988).World Ocean Circulation Experiment

A repeated hydrographic survey along the 137 deg E meridian in the western NorthPacific has been performed by the Japan Meteorological Agency every winter since 1967 and every summer since 1972. This data summary provides an assessment of measurement error for temperature, salinity, and oxygen, a description of data quality control, and a regridding procedure in analyzing this hydrographic data set. Scientific studies based on these repeated observations and results of the objectively mapped distributions of temperature, salinity, and oxygen for the 39 cruises (1967-1988) are documented. Sampling on this hydrographic line is to be continued as a Japanese contribution to the WOCE Hydrographic Program (WHP); it has been given the designation PR2.
