Geochemical Study of Heavy Mineral Concentrates from the Northeastern Part of the Greenville 1 deg x 2 deg Quadrangle, South Carolina.

A geochemical investigation of heavy mineral concentrate samples from the northeastern part of the Greenville 1 degree x 2 degree quadrangle was conducted to aid in the assessment of the mineral resource potential of the region. Samples were analyzed spectrographically, and element distribution maps were made for 19 selected elements (barium, beryllium, bismuth, boron, chromium, cobalt, copper, gold, lanthanum, lead, nickel, niobium, scandium, silver, thorium, tin, vanadium, yttrium, and zinc). Areas revealing anomalous concentrations of tin, beryllium, barium, thorium, and the rare earth elements lanthanum and yttrium are identified as possibly warranting additional study.
